Day #1: Creating Common Language and Value Date: 9/22/2020 at 12:00pm

Session: One Hour, instructor led via Zoom (or similar), PowerPoint with polling questions.

Learning Objectives

  • The participant will be able to describe the basic relationship between organizational culture and safety
  • The participant will become familiar with techniques to evaluate the clarity of a safety vision and risk
  • The participant will be able to recognize basic patterns that create organizational risk.

Overview

The first one-hour session will include an introduction to the course, an overview of the culture to outcomes relationship, a discussion on how to evaluate the OSH expectations of the company and how they are measured, techniques to evaluate and improve the organizations calibration to hazard and risk and, how to identify and communicate risk- creating patterns in and organization.

Day #2: Moving From Outcome to Risk Management Date: 9/24/2020 at 12:00pm

Session: One Hour, Instructor led via Zoom (or similar), PowerPoint with polling questions.

Learning Objectives

  • The participant will be able to recall two ways to improve the value of OSH and the OSH function in an
  • The participant will be able to recognize the difference between OSH risk and outcomes.

Overview

The second one-hour session will include techniques to evaluate and improve the respect for OSH and OSH professionals in an organization, techniques to transition an organization from an outcome to a risk focus, examples of how OSH and organizational risks occur together and, how OSH can be viewed as a symptom of process (and organizational) health.

  • Using Processes To Prevent And Predict Risk
  • How Healthy Are Your Risk Management Programs?

Day #3: Improving Process and Decision-making Health Date: 9/29/2020 at 12:00pm

Session: One Hour, Instructor led via Zoom (or similar), PowerPoint with polling questions.

Learning Objectives

  • The participant will be able to identify the elements of the Process Health
  • The participant will be able to apply the Criteria to identify a process heath issue when presented with a safety
  • The participant will be able to ask questions that reveal the reasons for process health

Overview

The final one-hour session will include techniques to better understand and evaluate processes and programs, examples of process health issues will be viewed and discussed, a set of process and system evaluation questions will be discussed and, an example organizational culture to outcomes map will be presented that ties all of the principles together. A closing summary and Q&A will be provided.

Speaker Peter Susca

Peter (Pete) Susca is the Principal/Owner of OpX Safety, a firm that helps companies improve operational excellence by using safety as an organizational health bellwether. He has 39 years of experience in environment, health and safety (EH&S) and operations leadership in large multi-national and mid-sized manufacturing, service and construction organizations. He has been involved in the design and assessment of management systems since 1991. Pete has held senior leadership positions at United Technologies Corporation and in a variety of professional service firms. He is regularly engaged in coaching leadership teams, providing leadership training and supporting the development of healthy systems.
