We are excited to announce the two student awardees of the 2023 Greater Boston Chapter Scholarships created in honor of former Chapter Presidents Ferdinand Schroth and Norman LaMontagne.

Awardee: Thomas Mulvehill
Thomas is a recent graduate from Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) in the Marine Science Safety and Environmental Protection program with a focus on Occupational Health and Safety. He is also the former MMA Student Chapter President and his leadership contributed to engaging MMA students in ASSP events and the safety profession. Following his graduation, he is taking a position as an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Fuss & O’Neill’s Manufacturing Solutions. Looking to the future, he plans to pursue safety professional certifications.

Awardee: Sundus Siddique
Sundus is a doctoral student in the UMass Lowell Public Health program with a focus on Occupational Medicine. Since 2018, she has been working at the NIOSH-funded Center for Promotion of Health in New England Workplace (CPH-NEW). Her research work has been focused on examining organizational safety policies and their impact on safety hazards, burnout, depression, and reduced work ability in healthcare workers. She is a current leader of the UMass Lowell Student Chapter and has contributed to organizing biannual research symposiums to showcase the research of students in occupational safety and health.
