2022-2023 Safety Professional of the Year

The Greater Boston Chapter of ASSP is pleased to announce Michael ‘Miki’ Alroy as our 2022-2023 Safety Professional of the Year. Miki has been a benefit to the chapter at the Executive Committee, Chapter Communications, Student Section involvement and specifically in our fundraising efforts via the Boston Open Scholarship Golf Outing (BOSGO).

Miki’s efforts as Chair of the BOSGO event over the past two years has brought considerable funding and visibility to our scholarship program. Miki has implemented an electronic payment system for the sponsors and the golf foursomes which has streamlined our processes. The increase in raised funds allowed the Chapter to increase the scholarship levels for each student. This year’s event will be held on Friday, September 29th.

Massachusetts Legislature Resolution to Celebrate NAOSH

On Thursday, May 5, 2022 the Greater Boston Chapter met with Massachusetts Senator Walter Timility, sponsor of the resolution commending the Greater Boston Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals on their recognition of North American Occupational Safety and Health Week and Occupational Safety and Health Professionals day.

Senator Timility is a steadfast supporter of our initiative to further the awareness of our noble profession and mission to see every worker return home safe and healthy at the end of each workday.   The Senator graciously introduced us to his peers as the resolution was read into the official record in the 192nd General Court of the Commonwealth.

Special thanks goes out to Hannah Buntich, Chief of Staff and our own Tom Rich who leads this initiative for the Greater Boston Chapter each year.  Hannah is a fantastic partner for the chapter and understands the need to promote our mission.
