2024 ASSP Greater Boston Chapter Scholarships
The Greater Boston Chapter announces the two student awardees of the 2024 Greater Boston Chapter Scholarships created in honor of former Chapter Presidents Ferdinand Schroth and Norman LaMontagne.

Awardee: Chandni Shahdev
Chandni is a doctoral student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Her safety-related professional background includes experience as a research assistant and occupational epidemiologist. Chandni’s research focuses on occupational health and safety and the prevention and control of HIV disease. Currently, she is working on a manuscript on healthcare worker injury and related costs in the healthcare sector. She always embraces every opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team and enjoys networking and socializing. As the incoming Student Section President at UMass Lowell, Chandni looks forward to organizing student events, workshops, safety-related talks, and connecting with passionate safety and health professionals.

Awardee: Sundus Siddique
Sundus is a doctoral student that just graduated from the UMass Lowell Public Health program with a focus on Occupational Medicine. She recently received the Deans Award for Academic and Research Excellence at UMass Lowell. Sundus has published four manuscripts and has recently been funded for a Harvard ERC grant to work on workplace health violence. Since 2018, she has been working at the NIOSH-funded Center for Promotion of Health in New England Workplace (CPH-NEW). Her research work has been focused on examining organizational safety policies and their impact on safety hazards, burnout, depression, and reduced work ability in healthcare workers. She has also been a leader of the UMass Lowell Student Section and has contributed to organizing biannual research symposiums to showcase the research of students in occupational safety and health.

2023 ASSP Greater Boston Chapter Scholarships
We are excited to announce the two student awardees of the 2023 Greater Boston Chapter Scholarships created in honor of former Chapter Presidents Ferdinand Schroth and Norman LaMontagne.

Awardee: Thomas Mulvehill
Thomas is a recent graduate from Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) in the Marine Science Safety and Environmental Protection program with a focus on Occupational Health and Safety. He is also the former MMA Student Chapter President and his leadership contributed to engaging MMA students in ASSP events and the safety profession. Following his graduation, he is taking a position as an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Fuss & O’Neill’s Manufacturing Solutions. Looking to the future, he plans to pursue safety professional certifications.
